Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost for Divine Label Compliance (DLC) to review my label?
This will depend on how many labels you have, how similar they are, how many regions the labels are designed for. We may need to conduct additional research, but we will always advise you of this.
Do you only review labels? I have a printed carton; can you review that?
We can review anything that is ‘consumer facing’ packaging, and therefore which must meet regulation and legal guidelines.
We also can review tertiary packaging.
You say that you find 85% of labels ‘non-compliant’. Is that true?
It is rare that we find a label completely correct and the range of issues can vary from minor issues to huge non-compliance problems like missing warnings or allergen declarations. The figure is probably nearer 95%.
What kind of file do I need to send you initially?
A JPG is ok to start with but for pre-assessment we need outlined vector file (pdf, ai, eps).
My labels and other information that I am providing to DLC is confidential. Will you sign an NDA.
Yes, we insist on signing an NDA with our clients and our Terms and Conditions also confer ‘non-disclosure’ conditions on us and you.
Why do you ask me to supply ‘print ready’ artwork as either PDF or Adobe Illustrator files
Some compliance issues are related to font sizes, and this can only be established correctly by using designated design software that we operate.
Why does Divine Label Compliance make artwork changes itself
We prefer to make artwork changes to ensure that the changes have been made correctly and to meet the regulatory requirements. So often our audit findings are not implemented correctly. Our clients seem to like this also.
Can I get my designer to make the artwork changes and if so, is there a reduction in price?
You can do this, but we still charge for a design guide for artwork because we spend as long explaining the changes to a 3rd party designer as we do altering the artwork ourselves.
I am interested in knowing all about Label Compliance, can you teach me this
We can run a label compliance seminar for you, but this will not tell you how to undertake label compliance.
It will make you aware
1) What label compliance is
2) Why it is important
3) Benefits of compliance to your business.
I have many products – can you review them all?
Yes, we have plenty of capacity for large portfolios and work with a number of clients with big portfolios.
I have 10 labels and they are all almost the same – do you charge for 10 separate labels?
It depends on what the issues are, if they are very similar then there will be some efficiencies that will be reflected in lower costs. We aim to be as cost effective as possible.
Do you only review UK and EU product labels?
We can also review compliance for these markets: US, Canada Australia, Japan, Middle East and many more.
I have 6 labels, can I do them one by one
Yes, you can.
Do you review US Pet supplement or pet food labels, is it more expensive as it is pet food?
Every label is reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Pet Food can be easier than food labels for human consumption. There are many variables which dictate the complexity although product sector and region (geography) are the biggest drivers.
I got my product pulled off the shelf by Trading standards – they won’t allow me to sell unless my label is compliant – what’s next?
Give us all the information and labels and we will run and audit for you. We will alter the label artwork according to the regulations, and then you can then ask Trading Standards to review your label and ‘sign it off’.
What do you mean by ‘LABEL CONVERSION’
This is where we take a client label that exists in one market and explain how to make it compliant for another market that has very different label compliance regulations.
